Our First CEREC Crown
I didn't think to take a photo of this tooth preoperatively. I was a little consumed with making sure the procedure went very smoothly since it was only the second time I've used this machine and the first time I've done an all-porcelain onlay. All that said, the procedure went exceedingly well. Here are some postoperative photos.
The tooth is #5, which is the second one from the gold crown. The red marks are the bite tape that I should have wiped off. We polished the onlay so it doesn't have any red on it.
The advantage to the patient is that this onlay removes a good deal less tooth structure and it can be performed in one day. If I had done a traditional crown, I would have had to reduce both sides of the tooth to below the gumline.
