Everyday care

Why regular dental cleanings matter

A cleaning is a chance to care for your teeth and understand what is happening in your mouth. It supports the work you do at home; it does not replace it.

What a cleaning can do

Your hygienist removes deposits that are difficult to manage with brushing alone and checks areas that need closer attention. Plaque builds up again, so a cleaning does not permanently remove bacteria. The aim is a healthier mouth and a home routine you can maintain.

Your needs guide the plan

The right interval between visits and the need for X-rays depend on your history and current findings. Some people need more frequent care. If gum disease is present, the recommended treatment may be different from a routine cleaning.

Make the appointment useful

Tell us about bleeding, sensitivity or changes you have noticed. Ask which areas need attention and let us show you a way to clean them comfortably. We want you to leave knowing what to do next, rather than feeling that you have been given a score.

A practical next step

If it has been a while, you do not have to solve everything before you come in. Start with an exam. We can explain what we see, what matters now and what can be planned over time. Good oral care is worthwhile for its own sake; a cleaning is not a guarantee against heart disease or other medical conditions.

Talk with us about your care

Your needs are individual. We can help you understand what applies to your teeth and what to do next.
